Hey Stranger - Week 2
SAWYER'S TYPING...
This week we mostly learned about copyright laws as well as fair use laws. As someone who struggles with coming up with original concepts and ideas when it comes to most forms of art, I found this week's lessons to be pretty valuable. With artistic concepts, ideas, and inspiration I typically turn to social media or other platforms to find things to create from or to take inspiration from. I've never claimed that anything I've made that has been a direct inspiration from others to be my own but I feel like I understand the concept of fair use and transformative work a bit more. I also understand the value of credit when it comes to inspiration especially if I were to be posting the things I make online or in other forms.
I also think that taking inspiration or creating a "copy" of others' work can directly benefit a learning artist. The best way to learn, in my opinion, is to copy from people you already admire. learning different techniques and different mediums while already having a framework can make the transition into a personal style and personal growth can be incredibly beneficial. credit should always be given if you're releasing that media on socials or in other forms, of course.
In other news, our big project for the week was about creating a video in Adobe Express. We were able to create it on any topic we wanted to so I picked my snake. It was really fun to create, I enjoy hands-on projects that allow me to design things in my own way. Talking about my boy was also really nice. It allowed me to showcase some of my favorite pictures of him including all the goofy ones. All in all this week was pretty interesting and fun.
